When an air conditioner quits in a Houston summer, the house gets dangerous fast, not just uncomfortable. We run same-day calls across the metro, diagnose the actual fault, and tell you the price before any work starts.

What we fix

Most no-cool calls come down to a short list of failures, and the honest answer is that several of them are inexpensive:

• Capacitors and contactors. The most common failure in our heat, and among the cheapest parts on the system.
• Refrigerant leaks. Refrigerant is not consumed. If you are low, there is a leak, and we find it rather than just topping you up.
• Frozen evaporator coils. Usually a symptom of restricted airflow or low charge, not the disease itself.
• Blower motors and fan motors. Including the outdoor fan that hums but will not spin.
• Control boards, thermostats, and wiring. A surprising share of no-cool calls are electrical, not mechanical.
• Condensate drain clogs that trip the safety switch and shut the system down.
• Compressor faults, where we will tell you honestly if repair no longer makes sense.

How we diagnose

We put gauges on the system and read it rather than guessing. That means measured refrigerant pressures, superheat and subcool, temperature split across the coil, and amp draw compared against the nameplate. You get the numbers, not just a verdict.

Before you call, check these

Two of these fix the problem outright often enough to be worth five minutes:

• Replace the air filter if it is dirty.
• Set the thermostat to COOL and the fan to AUTO, not ON.
• Check the breakers for both the indoor and outdoor units.
• Clear leaves and growth back from the outdoor unit.
